Discover the magic of Santa School at M&B
Have you ever wondered what it takes to become Santa Claus? At Mitchells & Butlers (M&B), we believe in spreading joy and creating unforgettable experiences every day, but especially so during the festive season.
That's why we have our very own Santa School, where our team members transform into the jolly old man himself. We had the pleasure of chatting with Chris from Harvester, who has been donning the red suit for our Santa Breakfasts every year.
Here's a peek into his journey and what makes Santa School at M&B so special.
The journey to becoming Santa
Chris has always been a fan of all things festive, embracing wearing Santa outfits at meetings to highlight the importance of Christmas. "I've always enjoyed Christmas and the joy it brings" he says.
When the opportunity came up to play Santa at Bassetts Pole, Harvester, he jumped at the chance. But it's not just about putting on a costume and saying "Ho, ho, ho!"
There's a lot more that goes into becoming the perfect Santa, which is why Santa jobs at M&B come with such a unique twist.
Why Santa School matters
Breakfast with Santa events have grown in popularity, with strong competition as everyone strives to deliver a unique experience for children. The key to making these events truly magical lies in bringing the magic of Christmas. Chris explains, "Children are experts at spotting the ‘real’ Santa from imposters. Santa knows how to make each child feel like they are truly in the presence of Father Christmas."
At M&B, we take our Santa training seriously. Our Santa School covers everything from the perfect "Ho, ho, ho!" to handling those tricky questions from curious kids.
The magic of Santa breakfasts
One of the highlights of the festive season at many of our restaurants is our Santa Breakfasts. These events are a hit with families, offering a chance for kids to meet Santa, share their Christmas list wishes, and enjoy a delicious breakfast at the same time! Chris loves these events, saying, "Seeing the excitement on the kids' faces is priceless. It's a wonderful feeling to be part of their Christmas memories."
Each Santa breakfast location creates a festive grotto for an ideal space for Santa to speak with the children. All the team members are part of this experience, helping make breakfast into a magical experience.
What makes a great Santa?
Chris's dedication to the role is evident in his enthusiasm and preparation. "Working during Christmas is always so rewarding," he says. "It's the planning of the season as early as September that drives the excitement."
Chris has held the role of District Christmas Coordinator for many years, always embracing the importance of Christmas. He recalls, "I would loan costumes, accept donated Christmas trees, set up outside lights, and even create an infamous 7ft Christmas Pudding entrance display."
Chris's commitment to creating a magical experience extends beyond his role in Harvester. He once planned a birthday party for his son in December, inviting the entire nursery to celebrate Christmas at Bassett’s Pole.
Special guest Santa, alias Chris, visited in costume and character, and he wasn't recognised. This dedication to the character role has made Chris a beloved Santa every Christmas since that unforgettable birthday.
Join the festive fun at M&B
If you're passionate about spreading joy and love the festive season, why not join us at M&B? We're always looking for enthusiastic team members to join our Santa School and help create magical moments for our guests.
As Chris puts it, "It's a rewarding experience. Whether you're looking for Santa jobs or simply want to be part of the festive spirit, becoming Santa at M&B is more than just a role; it's an opportunity to create lasting memories and spread Christmas cheer.
So, if you're looking for a unique role, consider joining us at M&B. Who knows, you might just find your inner Santa.
And who knows, our temporary jobs can kickstart your career in hospitality, just like Kayleigh’s journey at M&B.
