Our sustainability goals are designed to reduce our impact on the environment. As the host to life's meaningful moments with brands people trust, we're committed to contributing to global priorities.
Respect for the planet means identifying ways to reduce the negative impact our operations have on the environment. We are committed to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and have set an ambitious target to be Net Zero by 2040. We are working hard to reduce the amount of waste we produce whilst increasing recycling rates, and to improve the efficiency of our buildings.

To lower our scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, we are dedicated to reducing the consumption of energy within our businesses, along with developing a programme of investment to enhance the efficiency of both our buildings and equipment. In addition to focusing on this, we have collaborated with our energy providers to ensure that 100% of the electricity we use is generated from renewable sources.
Food purchases represent the largest single contributor
The food we sell is the largest contributor to our greenhouse gas footprint. This is common in restaurants and catering companies, reinforcing the importance of understanding the environmental impact of the food we serve. Emission reduction forms an important part of our food procurement strategy, alongside animal welfare, nutrition and biodiversity.
Reducing waste is a critical element
Waste reduction is the second critical element of our sustainability plan, and we are dedicated to reaching zero operational waste to landfill by 2030. To underpin this target and reduce our impact on the environment, we have set a recycling rate ambition of 80% over the same time period. As of April 2022, we divert 96% of operation waste from landfill and recycle 56% of our overall operational waste.
We are committed to operating in a more sustainable way, reducing the impact of our operations on the environment and giving back to the communities we serve. We have set ambitious targets and will report our progress against these ambitions each year in our Annual Report.
