Are you passionate about marketing and looking for an opportunity to kickstart your career in a dynamic and supportive environment?
Mitchells & Butlers' Undergraduate and Graduate Marketing Schemes offer pathways for aspiring marketers to develop their skills, gain hands-on experience, and significantly impact the hospitality industry.
We spoke to Dan, one of our Marketing Graduates and Lucas, one of our Marketing Undergraduates, about their experience in marketing schemes.
What can you expect from a Graduate or Undergraduate Marketing Scheme at M&B?
Our marketing schemes are designed to provide a comprehensive experience through various rotations and projects across different areas within M&B. This structure ensures that participants gain a well-rounded understanding of the business and the diverse aspects of marketing in the hospitality sector.
- Rotational learning: Participants in the schemes rotate through multiple departments, including digital marketing, brand planning, and affiliate marketing. This approach allows them to develop a diverse skill set and understand the unique challenges and strategies involved in each area.
- Project leadership: Our schemes encourage leadership and initiative. Graduates like Dan have led significant projects, such as updating restaurant apps for brands like Toby Carvery, Harvester, and Stonehouse. "Being able to lead and manage projects by myself has been a fantastic responsibility," says Dan.
- Support and development: The scheme is structured to provide continuous support. Graduates receive mentorship from experienced professionals, ensuring they have the guidance needed to thrive. However, the support received from the graduate cohort has been really influential, as described by Lucas; "The encouragement and feedback from my team and fellow undergraduates have been invaluable. It’s a very collaborative and supportive environment."
Is it worth doing a undergraduate or graduate scheme?
The simple answer is yes! And here are four reasons why you’ll want to apply for Graduate Marketing Scheme with M&B today:
- Practical experience: Participants gain hands-on experience from day one, working on real projects that impact the business. This practical approach ensures that by the end of the scheme, they are well-prepared to step into full-time roles with confidence.
- Networking opportunities: The scheme provides ample opportunities to network with professionals across the company. Regular interactions with different teams and leaders help participants build valuable connections that can benefit their future careers.
- Personal and professional growth: The diverse range of projects and responsibilities ensures continuous learning and development. Graduates and undergraduates alike learn to adapt, innovate, and lead, setting a strong foundation for their careers.
- Comprehensive support system: From mentorship to peer support, the scheme is designed to help participants succeed. "The support from both my peers and managers has been a game-changer. It's a very nurturing environment," says Lucas.
Dan - Marketing Graduate
Dan's journey started with rotations in brand planning and digital marketing, he quickly adapted to the fast-paced environment.
One of his key projects involved enhancing the gamification features on the restaurant division's apps.
"The hands-on experience and the responsibility I've been given have significantly boosted my confidence and skills," Dan reflects.
Lucas - Marketing Undergraduate
Lucas's experience as an undergraduate has been equally enriching. When his manager went on maternity leave, Lucas had the opportunity to step up and lead affiliate marketing campaigns.
"It was challenging at first, but it pushed me to grow and take on more responsibility. Now, I feel much more prepared for a career in marketing," says Lucas.
He also highlights the social aspect of the scheme, noting the camaraderie and support among the participants: "We’re a close-knit group, and those relationships have been crucial in navigating the corporate world."
