4 steps for a successful Head Chef job application
Are you looking for a new restaurant to showcase your Head Chef skills? Or maybe you're working as one of the most senior chefs in the kitchen, and it's time to find a business that will give you an opportunity to step up.
Wherever you might be, we can help you with that next move. After all, you want to secure that next job quickly so you can step straight into a new kitchen and start things off with a bang. No, that's not the sound of you dropping the saucepan. It's you wowing your new kitchen team.
So, we've summed up four steps for you. Follow them, and get ready to sink your teeth into a new role.
Step 1: Find a company that you believe in
Okay, it might sound a little cringe, but it's an important step! Before you even think about applying for a Head Chef job, ask yourself what type of company you want to work for. Is there room to grow? Do they care about their hospitality teams and offer the right benefits? Will you fit into the company's culture? These are important questions.
Step 2: Check that you’re right for the role
You've found a company you like the sound of. Good job! Now it's time to check out a few positions. Whether it's a Head Chef or Kitchen Manager role, you know you'll be leading your team to success. So it's a good idea to check that you're up for the job.
With 13 distinct companies, from Miller & Carter to Premium Country Pubs and Toby Carvery to Browns, you’re sure to find the perfect fit for you. To get a better feel for each, here's what our people said it's like working as a Head Chef at the different M&B brands.
Also, browsing some jobs will give you a better idea of the company culture and help you start imagining yourself working in the role.
Step 3: Get your application started
Don't hang about. The best jobs get snapped up like Yorkshire puddings at a Sunday roast.
Applying for a job might feel like a job in itself. But it doesn't have to be. At M&B, we make the job application process easy because we know what a brilliant Head Chef looks like. We don't want to waste any time getting you into our kitchen and leading your very own team.
Step 4: Stand out from the crowd
So you've found a company that you can see yourself working at, the benefits sound great, and you know you're up to the job. The next step is thinking about how you'll make your application stand out.
It goes without saying that your future employers will be looking for examples of brilliant leadership in the kitchen and a real passion for food. But have you thought about learning and development?
Just because you're applying for a senior kitchen role, that doesn't mean you'll know everything there is to know about kitchen life. There's always something new to learn, and that's definitely the case at M&B. Whether you're working in a Harvester restaurant or a Premium Country Pub, you'll encounter new menus and processes and have a new team to lead.
Be open-minded to developing your working style. After all, the best chefs have a growth mindset.
You're just a few clicks away from a Head Chef job at M&B
It couldn't be easier to find your next kitchen job. All you've got to do is follow these four steps until you land on the role that you like the sound of. Then, using our easy application process, you'll only need to click through a few pages to drop your details, and you're away!
