TAKE YOUR HOSPITALITY CAREER TO THE COAST
Imagine working in a location with stunning sea views. Where you get to breathe in that fresh sea air to the soundtrack of crashing waves. Sounds idyllic right? Well, that’s exactly what you can get with a job at Mitchells and Butlers (M&B) at one of our many coastal locations across the UK.
In fact, that’s one of Sam Dwyer’s favourite things about working at Harvester Neptune in Bournemouth. As a General Manager at one of our most picturesque Harvester’s, Sam welcomes guests who are passing through from all over.
Read on to hear why Sam loves working in a coastal location and why it could be the perfect spot to take your career:
1) Why did you join the company?
I saw it as a fantastic opportunity, I joined 4 years ago, and I’ve never looked back. I was working for another company at the time, but I made the move because of the great training program, benefits, and 33% discount M&B offer. It is a big PLC company, with an independent team feel. M&B is spread all over the UK with 16 different brands to work for, so there are great development opportunities. Harvester obviously being the best brand (not that I’m biased!).
2) What is the best thing about working so close to the coast?
It has to be the amazing views, just being able to see the sea every morning, afternoon and evening is a huge bonus. The best things are the special events like the air show and the fireworks every Friday night throughout the summer.
3) What does an average day at work look like for you?
Interacting with guests, great service, building regular customers, looking after holiday makers, making memories for all our guests, having fun working with our great team and enjoying a busy shift.
4) What do you love most about your job?
Everything! If I had to choose, I would say making people smile and giving them a great experience so they can relax and enjoy the beautiful view. The team I have are like my family I enjoy turning up every day knowing I am working with them. It’s a great company to work for and I get all the help and support I need.
5) How do you spend your time when you're not at work?
I am lucky to have a live-in accommodation, so I live upstairs above the restaurant, and enjoy relaxing with a glass of vino looking out my window at the stunning view of the sea front. I also like to keep active and run along the beach front, it beats the view in the gym any day!
6) Why would you recommend a job at M&B at any of our coastal locations?
M&B is a fantastic company and working on the coast is even better. Amazing views, holiday makers and the buzz you get front working in a busy restaurant when everyone is enjoying the sunshine and having a great time! who wouldn’t love to work outside in summer and look out on coastal life?
