Building a better future: Our partnership with Social Bite

At Mitchells & Butlers, we believe that success isn't just measured by the number of guests we serve, but also by the positive impact we have on our community. That's why we are thrilled to announce our new partnership with Social Bite

Who is Social Bite and what do they do?

Social Bite is an organisation on a mission to end homelessness by providing work opportunities, housing, and support for those who need it most.

Partnering with them is a big step in our commitment to making a real impact through social responsibility and inclusivity.

By joining forces, we’re opening up career paths for people ready for a fresh start, which fits right in with our PRIDE values of respect and community support.

Our together story

Our collaboration with Social Bite actually began three years ago, where some of our Scottish sites, including the team at the Hillington Harvester in Glasgow, took the opportunity to support the Social Bite scheme.

Mel, our General Manager at Hillington, shared her journey with the company and her enthusiasm for this initiative: “I’ve been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years, and this is one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve been part of. Seeing our Social Bite employees thrive and integrate seamlessly into our team is incredibly fulfilling. They bring a unique perspective and resilience that improves our work environment.”

Since then, we have employed nine individuals through this program so far, with three current employees on the scheme. One of our team members, Gemma, even went on to win the Restaurant Apprentice of the Year award!

Embracing individualities

We understand that every team member, regardless of their background, deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. At M&B, Social Bite employees are not seen as different; they are valued and supported just like any other team member. This inclusive approach fosters a sense of belonging and ensures that everyone has the chance to succeed.

Mel emphasises, “They are just like any other team member. They might have had different personal circumstances, but we all have our own challenges. What’s important is that we provide them with the same opportunities to grow and develop within our company.”

Our partnership with Social Bite also extends to community events and networking opportunities. Recently, we hosted a 'Meet Your Neighbour' event at Hillington, inviting local businesses to learn more about Social Bite and our collaboration. This event not only raised awareness about the cause but also strengthened our ties within the local community.

Building a brighter future, one job at a time

As we look to the future, our goal is to expand this initiative across all our locations, providing Social Bite candidates with the chance to rebuild their lives through meaningful employment. This initiative not only transforms the lives of individuals but also enhances our work culture, bringing in diverse experiences and perspectives.

We invite potential candidates who share our passion for hospitality and community service to join us on this exciting journey. By becoming part of our team, you’re not just starting a job—you’re joining a movement that aims to make a real difference in people’s lives.

Together, we can build a better future, one job at a time. If you’re ready to make an impact and grow with a company that values every member of its community, we’d love to hear from you.
